CHAMPAIGN - Police never want you to leave your keys in your car because they can become keys to a crime. In Crime Watch tonight, the string of crimes that followed that one mistake. It happened in Southwest Champaign, in the 4500-block of Stonebridge Drive on Sunday, June 1st. The owners had left their car unlocked in the driveway with the keys inside. The bad guys found a garage door opener and went into the house. They took two purses and a wallet and then took the car. It was a black 2008 Dodge Avenger like the one to the left. It had Illinois plates, number: VBP 123. Tim Atteberry with the Champaign Police Department says, "Nobody is exempt from being a victim of crime in Champaign and we are seeing a rash of residential burglaries in Southwest Champaign at this time." Also taken from Stonebridge Drive, a set of golf clubs from another car left unlocked in the driveway. Golf clubs were also taken, along with other things like cash and a cell phone, in a similar case back in April. Also in Southwest Champaign, a silver 2004 Mercedes C230 was stolen with Illinois plate number
