Updated: June 18, 2009
Former Illini Rajeev Ram and Kevin Anderson each qualified for the Wimbledon main draw. Ram swept Andrea Stoppini 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to earn a spot in the main draw. Ram will be making his first singles appearance at Wimbledon after advancing to the quarterfinals of the doubles draw in 2007 and losing the 2nd round of the doubles draw in 2008. Anderson and his doubles teammate Somdev Devvarman squeaked by the team of Alessandro Motti and Joseph Sirianni 7-6, 6-7, 8-6. This will be Andersons 2nd appearance at Wimbledon. The South Africa-native lost in the first round of the singles draw last year, while advancing all the way to the quarterfinals in the doubles draw.
