Mitchell's Plan to Ground the Governor

FORSYTH- One area lawmaker is proposing a bill that would ground the governor. That means no more trips from the capitol to the windy city until the state budget is done. People have mixed feelings. But when looking at figures like 6-thousand dollars a day to get the governor to his home home in chicago to the capital, Taxpayers feel uneasy.
    Representative Bill Mitchell introduced a house bill that would ground all airplanes owned by the state that are used to transport legislative leaders...Until the budget is done. He says after May 31st it's not fair that any lawmakers get the perks of the job.
    Taxpayers want to see the budget done...One way or another.
     "I see the Governor is absent from the general assembly a great deal of the time. I don't think that's a good think if the lawmakers need him there to make a decision I think he should be there."
    "Where he does his business is really up to him as long as it gets done. It's hard enough to make a budget for a single family home let alone an entire state."
    The Governor's office responded by saying, "Rep. Mitchell should focus his energy on doing something constructive to move the budget forward instead of on state officials' transportation."
     The governor's office also added that several other state employees use those planes and grounding the flights until the budget is done could impact other programs that help people.
