The states looking into what it calls "serious allegations" against two clinics in Champaign-Urbana. The attorney generals office says Carle and Christie Clinics illegally agreed not to accept patients on Medicaid. It says it has detailed proof. Both Carle and Christie Clinics say they have policies regulating how many Medicaid patients they accept, but they say they did nothing wrong. Carle Clinic Chief Medical Officer Kirk Moberg says, "Were very diappointed that the state has chosen to go down this road." Christie Clinic CEO Alan Gleghorn says, "We categorically deny we did anything wrong. We will vigurously defend ourselves to prove that in court if thats what it takes." The state is expected to file suit against the two on Thursday.
