In the capitol beat tonight.. Lawmakers are home for the weekend. But not before the fight over health care.. got personal. One senator says.. the governor pressured him to support his plan.. and when he didnt.. the governor threatened to end his political career. A democratic ally to the governor is now his enemy, Quad Cities Senator Mike Jacobs says when Governor Blagojevich pulled him into his office ... He says the governor was ready for a boxing match. This came shortly after Jacobs pulled out of supporting the governors billion dollar healthcare plan late last night (Thursday). Now Jacobs says the governor threatened his political career ... Saying hed pull 75 million dollars out of his district ... And would find someone to run against him next election. Once respected ... Jacobs says thats all gone. "The governor of Illinois has stooped to thug tactics in trying to get his way. It reminds me very much of a very young spoiled child. And although I dont believe in spanking if he was my child I would put him over my knee and spank him...If the governor wants a charity boxing match then Ill put all the proceeds to education." said State Senator Mike Jacobs, D-Moline. Jacobs says hed rather spend billions on education and jobs and than the governors healthcare for all. The governors healthcare plan could have been called for a vote last night (Thursday) in the senate had Jacobs given the ok. The governors office released a statement saying Jacobs wanted the 75 million dollars in exchange for his vote ... But the governor refused.
