policeDECATUR- A high speed chase in Decatur lands a wanted man behind bars.
It happened this afternoon at the intersection of Franklin and Eldorado.
Officers say Scott Danaha is wanted in connection to several burglaries, he's a registered sex offender and was caught driving a stolen car.
It's a case officers have been working to crack. We've been looking for him for a couple of weeks but we had some tips he's been in the area the last couple of days so we've been working some surveillance and it worked out today," said Lt. Ed Culp of the Macon County sheriff's office.
Officers spotted the suspect and switched into high gear chasing the car through busy streets.
"We didn't want to put any more people in harm's way. That's why we terminated pursuit," said Culp.
When the suspect was traveling at high speeds in the middle of this afternoon traffic officers called the chase off.  Then minutes later the suspect slammed into two city cars.
City worker Mark Montgomery was driving the truck that hit Danaha's stolen car and stopped the chase.
"He was northbound and we were southbound and he ran the red light and came out in front of us and we hit him."
    Danaha then took off running.
Montgomery said it all happened so fast, "I wanted to chase him down but couldn't the police were here almost immediately so they got him."
The chase was over and luckily no one was hurt. Both city workers were taken to the hospital but came out with only a few bumps and bruises.
Danaha will be in court tomorrow.
