Gas boycott may be an empty threat

A nationwide gas boycott today hopes to bring relief at the pump, but experts say it won't work. This comes as gas spikes to an all-time high.
An email is spreading around the nation calling for a "gas out" day today. However, experts say it's an empty threat. They say it's a disorganized movement where many people won't follow. In fact, dozens of people were out filling up today.
Even if people do boycott for the day, experts say they'll fill up again tomorrow so the companies will still cash in.
Instead, experts say the only way to top off on the fueling price is to cut down on your gas use. U of I economics Professor Fred Giertz suggests, " deal with their own fuel consumption they can buy more fuel efficient cars, they can take public transportation they can walk run or buy a different type of automobile."
Giertz doesn't expect gas prices to come down to what it was in the past. He predicts they'll stay around the $2.75 to $3.15 dollar range.
