Updated: May 15, 2007

It was an emotional reunion for one family Monday as they got to speak with their loved one stationed in Iraq. The Ewing family spoke by video-conference with Corporal Michael Ewing. His younger brother, Matthew, just graduated from the army's ROTC at the U of I. Tradition allows for Matthew's first salute to be with someone who's touched his life and decision to go into the military. He chose his brother, Michael, serving overseas. The school hooked up the technology and invited the entire family to watch. Matthew says the last time he saw his brother was around Christmas. He won't see him again for awhile. His next step is to train cadets in Washington and then head to Georgia. Michael should leave Iraq in the next couple of months and return to Florida.
