Kids and Guns
Updated: April 9, 2007
There's been three incidents in three weeks. The latest involved teens, shooting b-b guns outside a movie theater.
Officers say it's not illegal to have a b-b gun. It's the way you use it that could mean trouble and in this case these kids showed the gun and then fired.
It started inside the Hickory Point mall and then spilled out in the parking lot. Authorities say the boys ages 14 and 15 fired b-b-'s at three other young teens. No one was hurt, but officers say this could have been much worse because these guns looked so much like the real ones.
The boys with the b-b guns are being charged with unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated battery.
Because officers have seen so much of this lately. They say it's up to the parents to make sure kids don't have access to guns. They suggest looking through their things and checking them before they leave the house.
