lilyMELVIN - We've followed the story of one family from Central Illinois who have been through a lot. Ed Danner lost his wife Kristine to cancer last September.

His wife befriended a nurse at the hospital during her pregnancy. The two became close and before she died, the nurse, Dian Ortel made a promise to help take care of their daughter, Lily.

The house Lily and her father shared was a one bedroom home, with only one working window and no bathtub. Ortel says her original idea was to get a bathtub in the house for Lily. The project turned out to be much bigger. Over the course of a few months, more than 30 businesses stepped in and donated time, labor and supplies to build the Danners a brand new home. Today, their hard work paid off, as Lily and her dad got the keys to their brand new home, and their brand new beginning.
