VERMILION COUNTY -- Out of 102 counties in the state, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation says Vermilion County is 96 when it comes to health. 27-percent of the population smokes; 29-percent are obese and the high school graduation rate is about 79-percent.

The county's environmental health director says they're not happy with the ranking, but they're working on making improvements. He says the county's health department took a hit in 2009 and 2010 when they lost 2/3rds of their staff.

But, they have new goals for the future. It includes cutting down on teen pregnancy, substance abuse and obesity.
