SPRINGFIELD -- One lawmaker is working to put a limit on benefits for members of state boards and commissions. There currently is no limit on salaries or per diems, but Representative Barbara Wheeler (R-Crystal Lake) wants to change that.

She says they should be capped at $20,000. She also thinks they should lose their health benefits because all those costs add up and the state can't afford to dish out that kind of money. Wheeler says many groups don't meet enough to justify their pay.

Her bill is stuck in a house committee. She says it probably won't be called up for a vote during session. Even so, she says she'll continue to push for reform.
