Parking garage to be torn down

DECATUR -- A downtown eyesore is finally getting demolished. The Barnes Citizens Parking Garage will come down next month.
The dilapidated structure was condemned a few years ago. Residents and businesses in the area say it's about time and they couldn't be happier.
The city took the former owner to court to get it demolished. He didn't have the funds to do the job. New owners have since taken over the site and plan to tear it down next month. The project, from start to finish, should take about three months.
