A few weeks ago, more than 80 businesses got a notice to take the signs down. Carmack Car Capitol was one of them.
The city argued that they were a distraction to drivers. They also felt removing them would clean up the city's image. But Carmack's owner was determined to fight back.
"We need to stand up right now and tell the city that we're not going to sit still and listen. We need a voice. You can't come in and tell us we're going to take our signs down. We need to find out why, we need to have a discussion, we need to have an appeal," said owner Gary Knight.
Aldermen say the city plans to appoint a group of business and retail owners to draft a new ordinance.
