CENTRAL ILLINOIS- The Urbana Police Department is keeping you safe and sound, even when you aren't home.

When you head out of town, it may be the perfect time for thieves to break in.

But not it you keep some extra eyes on your home, and the Urbana Police Department can help you do just that.

The deaprtment has program called Vacation Watch.

It's all to make sure someone is looking out for your home when you can't.

All you have to do is go online and sign up.

"What'll happen is, your address, name, and contact information will be put in one of our briefing rooms and put on our briefing infomation that we get every day, and periodically throughout the day. We would check your windows, doors, and things of that nature to make sure nothing's being disturbed," says officer Preston James.
Officers will also look out for things like cars in the driveway. If someone's vehicle is supposed to be there, they'll make sure it is. They'll also make sure no one is there that shouldn't be.
