URBANA -- Local families took a look at books Saturday. This is Champaign-Urbana's 13th-Annual Read Across America Day.

Dozens of area organizations set up literacy games at the Lincoln Square Mall. There were also readings in different languages.

Kids got a chance to earn stickers and books. Organizers say it's a way to encourage reading.

Jean Breeze, co-chair for Champaign-Urbana's Read Across America says, "The earlier the children learn to read, that they become acquainted with language, the better it is of course." More than two-thousand people took part in the event.
