Illini Land Spot in NCAA Tournament

illiniCHAMPAIGN - The watching and waiting finally came to an end Sunday evening as the Illini were announced as a 12-seed in the NCAA Tournament.  The Fighting Illini (23-11, 9-7 Big Ten) will head to Columbus, Ohio to play 5th seeded Virginia Tech (21-11, 10-6 ACC) on Friday, March 16.

If the Illini pull an upset over Virginia Tech, a second round showdown could be set with Southern Illinois.  The Salukis (27-6, 15-3 MVC) earned a #4 seed.  SIU will play 13th seeded Holy Cross.
