MacArthur, Eisenhower to CS8?

CHAMPAIGN - Decatur's two biggest high schools, MacArthur and Eisenhower, could soon be leaving the Big 12 and heading to the Central State Eight.

A Decatur Public Schools committee has recommended to the Board of Education that they pursue membership into the CS8, which is comprised of schools in Springfield, Lincoln, Jacksonville, Chatham and Taylorville.

Enrollment numbers seem to be the major reason for wanting to move.  MacArthur and Eisenhower are 2 of the 3 smallest schools in the Big 12.  Their enrollments would put them more in the middle of the CS8.

The Central State Eight has not officially invited them yet.  The Board of Education will vote on February 26th, whether to petition the Central State Eight for entry.  In the meantime, they are seeking public opinion on the possible move.  Email your thoughts to welisten@dps61.org.
