School considering full-day kindergarten
Updated: February 12, 2013
The all-day classes would mean more time for students to learn the basics. Mary Weaver is the Director of Instruction. She says children learn quickest at that age. More instruction time would help set a solid foundation.
"We build on that as we go through first grade, elementary, junior high and high school," said Weaver.
The district also wants to add new art and music classes. So far, they say there has been a very positive response to the full-day kindergarten plan. Parents say it'll also makes scheduling easier for families.
"Right now, with part-day, we have to work out daycare issues," said Beasley. "If it's full day she could go to school on the bus and come home."
