DECATUR -- A teacher at Robertson Charter School is taking action to keep students in Macon County schools a little safer. First grade teacher Lisa Biba has practiced martial arts for more than 20-years. She is a black belt.

Biba stated a self-defense class for students to teach them more about self-control and discipline. But, after the tragic shooting at a Connecticut school, Biba decided to offer free self-defense classes for all educators in Macon County.

The goal is to get educators thinking more about their surroundings and be prepared to act in dangerous situations. The 6 week class is open to anyone who works at a school in Macon County.
