Man arrested after accidentally killing girlfriend

CHAMPAIGN-- A man is in jail after accidentally killing his girlfriend. It happened at 3:00 A.M. at the Super 8 Motel at 202 W. Marketview Drive.
Police say Antonio Brown, 20, improperly handled the gun, causing it to accidentally fire and hit his girlfriend, 20-year-old Sydni Blackwell. Brown took Blackwell to Carle Hospital for treatment. She died at 12:45 P.M.
Police recovered the gun used in the shooting. They arrested Brown for Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. He was taken to the Champaign County Jail.
