CHAMPAIGN -- The city of Champaign is making sure it's ready for the first big snow.

Each plow is already loaded up with around 9 tons of salt. Public Works says they were out this afternoon prepping the roads. Crews will focus on bridges and the main streets. They anticipate the biggest challenge will be the windy weather.

"Usually when it's windy that means we're plowing the same area over and over again," said Kris Koester with the city Public Works. "Once we plow it, it covers back up."

Crews will be working overnight to make sure all the roads stay clear.
