CHAMPAIGN -- A school will have a new name to help remember a former school board member. The Academic Academy will be changed to Novak Academy, in honor of Greg Novak.

Novak died suddenly in March. He worked for the school district for more than 30 years and was elected to the board five years ago.

District leaders say he helped research programs for the academy before it opened and kept in close contact with students and staff. A dedication ceremony takes place Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 pm.
