URBANA --- Parents attended an informational admissions meeting at University Laboratory High School. It has a five-year accelerated program, combining 7th and 8th grades into a "sub-freshman" year.

It was named an Elite School by the Washington Post and Newsweek. Parents say the school offers students a challenging and competitive education.

Uni High has a competitive admission process. A committee reviews applications and makes a recommendation to the school's director. Each year 65 students join the sub-freshman class.
