Several Communities Seeing Water Problems in Cold

Updated: February 7, 2007
A broken water main in Oakwood is finally patched up, but you will still need to boil your water into Thursday. It took workers 15 hours to fix the line after it froze and cracked. Village trustees say it has been a messy inconvenience for everyone especially village workers. The boil order in Oakwood will likely last another 24-hours. People can expect lower water pressure during that time. A boil order is also in effect in LeRoy. Crews there shut off the water in town for a few hours Wednesday night to fix a water main break. In Hoopeston, workers are dealing with a record number of calls. The water department heard from more than 50 people with frozen pipes and water meters this week.
