New Developments in Teacher Sex Crime Accusations

Updated: February 2, 2007
Jon WhiteUrbana's school superintendent says the district may have made a mistake during the investigation of a teacher accused of playing oral sex games with his students. Jon White, a teacher at Thomas Paine Elementary School, was under investigation for three months before he was arrested this week.  Urbana Superintendent Gene Amberg says parents have every right to be upset, but he says during an internal investigation, fellow teachers did what they thought was right. He says the student's weren’t forthcoming, and the interviews turned up nothing. Amberg says if White is guilty, he'll personally bear the blame.
