CHAMPAIGN -- Big dreams are becoming reality this weekend for two ballet dancers. High school juniors Maura Dickson and Erin Berl have the lead female roles in C-U Ballet's production of "Coppelia."
The company is in final rehearsals this week. The girls say "Coppelia" is the perfect ballet for people who have never seen one; a good "starter" ballet. That's because there's as much acting as dancing, both ballet and folk.
There's also lots of pantomime and props, making the lead roles demanding for these kids to know. The teens take the stage this weekend at the Virginia Theatre with performances on Friday and Saturday.
