1996 - On the heals of the storm that affected the area on the 2nd and the 3rd another one rolled into central Illinoi. Another 2 to 7 inches of snow were dropped on this date. Totals included 6.2 inches in Springfield and 3.6 inches in Champaign.1997 - It felt more like Spring than winter on this date as well as the first few days of 1997. The peak was on the 4th with Springfield reaching 68, Peoria reaching 65, and Champaign reaching 64. Record highs for the day were broken well before sunrise.
