CHAMPAIGN - No one calls police until after they see a shotgun. But two people had already been beaten up. In Crime Watch tonight, police say someone could've easily been shot. It all happened early Sunday morning, September 7th at 88 West Apartments on Moreland Blvd. Investigators say three men were walking around causing trouble. They beat up two people who asked them to leave. They took off but came back with more guys. This time a man who had a shotgun asked them to stop. Tim Atteberry with the Champaign Police Department says, "He pulled a shotgun on the group causing the problems, asked them to leave. At least one of the white males hit him and took the shotgun and battered him with the shotgun." The trouble makers took off in an older model white SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer. They're described as in their late teens, early 20's with average height and build. Police also say, they may be from the Rantoul area.
