Corn Pickers

Updated: July 6, 2011

A food bank is fighting hunger from the ground up.

It's the 2nd year for "The Garden for Every Table."

It's a sweet corn field planted off of Old Church Road in Champaign.

The Eastern Illinois Food Bank and Provena are behind the idea, and they need your help.

They are looking for people to pick corn.

The group needs volunteers for the next three weekends.

The corn will go to families in need in Champaign County.

"It's a really direct connection, you know that food, that corn you're picking is going to go directly to someone that needs it," said Volunteer Coordinator, Kristen Costello.
