Officer Hurt in Car Chase

According to police, around 1:15 a.m. a Decatur Police Officer tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic code violation near Leafland and Monroe. The car didn't pull over and tried to speed off as the officer chased them.
Police said other officers were called out, but the suspected car still sped off. Officers, "deployed a tire deflation devices," to get the car to stop. The 17-year-old driver started running, but the passenger was turned himself in.
Officers said the suspected driver started running west on Pine Street. Another squad car was following the officer chasing the suspect, that's when the officer running hit the side of the moving squad car.
The officer was taken to Decatur memorial Hospital, and does not have life threatening injures, but they are considered serious.
The 17-year-old was arrested and had an outstanding warrant for burglary from Shelby County. The passenger was arrested for consuming alcohol as a minor.
