CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (UI Release)
- University of Illinois head coach Matt Bollant announced Tuesday the
medical disqualifications of redshirt-junior Kersten Magrum (Mokena,
Ill./Lincoln-Way East HS) and sophomore
Kierra Morris (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park Academy) because of
career-ending injuries. Magrum suffered the fourth concussion of her
career earlier this season and Morris' career was cut short by chronic
pain from a left knee injury she suffered in 2011-12.
Magrum appeared
in 11 games this season, starting seven. She averaged 5.4 points per
game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 21.0 minutes per game. In her career,
she averaged 6.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 19.6
minutes per game in 66 contests with 39 starts. Her best season came in
2011-12, when she averaged 11.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while
starting 17 of 21 contests she appeared in. Morris played in one game in
her career, seeing three minutes of action
against Bollant's Green Bay team in the San Juan Shootout on Nov. 24,
2011.
