Parking problems being cleaned up near school

ROSSVILLE -- People say picking up their kids from grade school has been a chore in the past. That's because people would double-park along Green Street. Now, village leaders are working to fix it.
The mayor says it has been a process to figure out the best way for parents to pick up their kids from school but, the most recent solution is making people happy.
"I get down here about 3:00, so I get my parking spot everyday," said Howard Brazel. He picks up his great grand-kids everyday and does what he can to avoid the chaos.
"They parallel park two in a row here. There'd be one over here, and then the school buses couldn't get up through there," said Brazel.
The double-parked cars also blocked other people, like Veronica Johnson, from getting her grandson.
"I have to drive around school sometimes three or four times just to get in," said Johnson.
So the mayor and superintendent are doing what they can to fix the problem.
"Just studying the flow of traffic and finding the best solution to ensure safety among students. We're always willing to work with the village," said Crystal Johnson. She's the superintendent and principal of the grade school.
The mayor says they didn't change any rules, they just started enforcing them.
"The other day, the cop stopped me because I thought I got a free space right here and he told me they no longer do that," said Veronica Johnson.
"It was brought to my knowledge, I believe it was late last week or this week, that it was an issue and that police were going to start enforcing," said Crystal Johnson.
"There's a cop sitting right up there. He don't allow that anymore," said Brazel.
Teachers who used to park along the street also moved to the parking lot.
"It makes it a whole lot better for us," said Brazel.
"I don't know what the answer is. Maybe to find a lot that they can park, but I think this is so much better," said Veronica Johnson.
