Groce says 'effort' the key piece for Illini

CHAMPAIGN - The Illini basketball team will take a 12-game winning streak into the Braggin' Rights game this weekend, and while they haven't played their best basketball consistently their effort is something John Groce has been very proud of.

He has talked repeatedly about how they have found ways to win even when the shots aren't falling.  That is because they rebound and play defense: two things that boil down to effort.  They hit that message hard in practice this week, and it's starting to pay off.
