Groce splits pants in 72-64 win over WCU

CHAMPAIGN - The Illinois basketball team survived a close call Tuesday night, holding off Western Carolina 72-64.  The Illini led by as many as 12 points early in the second half, but the Catamounts knotted the game on several occasions in the second half.  Brandon Paul scored a team high 14 points.  DJ Richardson added 13 for the Illini, who shot just 29% (7-24) from 3-point range.

Illinois (9-0) visits Gonzaga Saturday night.
