CLINTON -- The DeWitt County Clerk held a recount for the race which was decided by a coin toss. It was for county board district 9.

Originally, incumbent Terry Ferguson was up by one. After canvassing, he was tied with independent George Wissmiller. Wissmiller won a coin toss and the county board seat. That's why Ferguson asked the clerk to double-check votes from the two largest precincts.

Everything checked out at the recount, but a judge could still decide a full recount should be done. Wissmiller started his term on the board Monday night. He says the election is just another example of how every vote counts.
