CHAMPAIGN - Illinois head football coach Tim Beckman will return for a second season, athletic director Mike Thomas confirmed Tuesday.  Illinois finished the season 2-10; it was their worst record since 2006.

Thomas gave Beckman a vote of confidence on the radio Tuesday afternoon, saying Beckman will not be fired.

He did not rule out the possibility of changes with the assistant coaches.  In fact, one staffer is already on the way out.  Head football trainer Scott Brooks has left the program after one year.  Brooks made the decision to resign three weeks ago, but finished out the season.

How much more does Mike Thomas think the fans will put up with? No more season tickets for me and my family.
