John Groce says he will use a mix of coaching observations and statistics to decide his starting lineups. He also added they are not set in stone because he wants to see more from each player as the team prepares for its exhibition game against Lewis.

In the Orange and Blue Scrimmage, Groce used Richardson, Paul Egwu, Bertrand and Henry in his starting lineup.

Illinois' first exhibition games is Saturday night at 7 against Lewis.
