CHAMPAIGN - Illinois offensive lineman Ryan Klachko is retiring from football because of "numerous" concussions suffered during practice this season, head coach Tim Beckman told reporters today.

Klachko was sitting out this season, due to NCAA rules, after transferring in from Nebraska.  The redshirt freshman from Springfield (Sacred Heart-Griffin) will stay on with Illinois though; he will work in the strength and conditioning program.
