CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- For this Saturday's Illinois football Big Ten opener against Penn State (11 a.m. CT, ESPN), the DIA will once again be asking fans to "Stripe the Stadium" orange and blue. Last season's inaugural Stripe the Stadium game against Ohio State was a huge success and we hope to make this year's bigger and better.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear either orange or blue clothing depending on the section where their seats are located. Fans seated in the odd-numbered sections and the entire north end zone are asked to wear orange, while fans in the even-numbered sections should wear blue. In addition, the premium seating areas are encouraged to get in on the action this year. See Stripe the Stadium map for details: http://bit.ly/StripeMap2012.
In addition to Stripe the Stadium, fans can take part in the Food-on-a-Stick tailgate contest at the Illini Street Fest promotions booth on First Street. Judging will take place at 9:30 a.m., 90 minutes before the 11 a.m. kickoff between the Illini and Nittany Lions.
Fans can enter three categories: entre, side dish or dessert, and food must be displayed on a wooden skewer with at least three portions provided, one for each celebrity judge. All entires must be submitted with a recipe no later than 9:30 a.m. For for complete contest details, click here: http://bit.ly/FoodonaStick.
Illini Street Fest will begin at 8:30 a.m. following the Illini Walk and will feature free kids games and inflatables, food vendors and live music by the Brat Pack starting at 9 a.m. Details about Street Fest and the full 2012 Fighting Illini promotions schedule can be found here: http://bit.ly/ILPromotions
