Illini offer Centennial's Finke

By: Matt Wettersten
Updated: September 23, 2012
Champaign-- Centennial junior forward Michael Finke received a basketball scholarship offer from the Illini and head coach John Groce.  He got the offer at open gym Sunday night.

Finke's stock continues to soar. The latest Illini offer is his third from a Big Ten school, the others being Wisconsin and Iowa. He took visits to those schools earlier this month.

Groce's staff is coming into the picture later compared to other schools. Before his Illinois offer, he took an unofficial visit to the U of I campus in August, after Iowa and Wisconsin offered. Finke has offers from a number of other schools like Eastern Illinois and South Dakota State.

The local prospect also has more ties to the Illini. His father, Jeff, was a football and basketball player at Illinois.
