Scheelhaase practices Sunday, will play if healthy

CHAMPAIGN - Illinois football coach Tim Beckman says Nathan Scheelhaase could have played Saturday night in an emergency situation, but he said it was the right decision to hold him out.  The coaches will evaluate Scheelhaase in practice this week, and the junior could be ready to go Saturday.

The Illini passed for just 101 yards with Scheelhaase on the sideline against Arizona State.  There had been some speculation the coaches might just sit Scheelhaase again as a precaution with FCS opponent Charleston Southern coming to town this weekend, but Beckman said Monday if Scheelhaase is healthy, he will play.
