Scheelhaase practices, still questionable for ASU

CHAMPAIGN - Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase practiced Tuesday as he continues to recover from a sprained ankle. Head coach Tim Beckman wouldn't get into details about how Scheelhaase performed or how he felt afterwards, only saying "he felt good."
This is a step in the right direction after Scheelhaase was held out of practice Monday. Beckman had insinuated that if Scheelhaase had not practiced today, he would not play Saturday at Arizona State. Instead Beckman said he'll see how Scheelhaase progresses and make his final decision after practice Thursday.
Reilly O'Toole and Miles Osei have been splitting reps this week in practice, and Beckman says they are "neck-and-neck" for the starting job if Scheelhaase can't play.
