I just purchased a 2007 Jeep Liberty and the key is built into a device that locks, unlocks, and has a panic button. I would like to install a remote starter. Can it be installed with the type of key I have? Also, would a Jeep dealer install it or who would be best to install it, beings where I bought it does not do installation?
Ernie's Answer:
Most vehicles can have a remote
start added. Usally they will need to already have power door locks with remote.
it sounds like your Jeep has this so you should go ahead and check into having
one added. I would start with the dealer to see if the factory has one. This
would ensure a factory trained technician who know the vehicle and the wiring
system is installing it. If that does not work then check locally as there are
several places that sale and install remote start
systems.
Question:
We bought a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in 2005 used. When we got it, it didn't come with a remote to open the trunk or unlock the doors. Is there a way to get one now? The original owner was Enterprise Car Rental and either they didn't turn it in when the traded the car or they never had one. We love our Pontiac, just wish we had keyless entry!
Ernie's Answer:
That is a great question. The 2004 Grand AM had the remote door locks and trunk opener as an option. Many rental car companies ordered there vehicles without this option and this could very well be the case in regards to this vehicle. How ever that does not eliminate the vehicle from having one added. The best thing right now would be to bring the vehicle by for a quick inspection. We could easily tell whether is was built with out the system.
Question:
On a front wheel drive car do the snow tires go on the front or the back?
Ernie's Answer:Thanks for the question.Snow tires would be preferred on the drive wheels, which in your case would be on the front. Many of the tires on vehicles now days are considered all weather tires and are fine for our part of the country with no need to purchase the more aggressive snow tires.
