CHAMPAIGN - No one expects to be attacked in a friend's apartment.  But that's exactly what happened in Campustown.  In Crime Watch tonight, this bizarre case happened overnight, Saturday July 11th.  It was in the 300-block of East White Street.  A man was watching a friend's apartment when a knock at the door woke up him around one in the morning.  Police say he answered the door and was over powered by the man standing there with a silver handgun.  The intruder was not alone.  David Griffet with the Champaign Police Department says, "Four other black males with guns came into the apartment, ultimately the victim was pistol whipped."  Police believe the armed bandits at least knew the apartment or the man who lives there.  They demanded specific items from the victim, including:  an X-Box, a black and tan backpack, a black T-Mobile flip-phone and cash.  They forced the victim to wait in the bathroom, then they took off.  Griffet says the victim eventually got help and was treated at the hospital for  his injuries.  If you have any information, call Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS.  You can also send in a text tip on your cell phone or a web tip .  You don't have to give your name or testify in court and a reward is offered.
