Reported by: Dave Benton / WCIA 3 Monday, Jun 29, 2009 @02:44pm CDT ST. JOSEPH - Car burglaries are fairly common no matter where you live. The latest targets have been in St. Joseph. There, someone was looking for something in about a dozen cars all in one night. In Crime Watch, Champaign County deputies need you help to find out what's going on. It all happened about two weeks ago in the Crestlake Subdivision. Someone rummaged through 10 unlocked cars. Some of them were parked on the street and others were in driveways. They took a variety of items including cash and purses. Investigators remind drivers not to take any chances. Jody Ferry with the Champaign County Sheriff's Office says, "Keep vehicles locked and not have items in plan view where someone can walk by it and see them. As we all know, people will take the opportunity when they can get it." All the cars were broken into overnight Saturday, June 20th. If you have any information, call Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS. You can also send in a text tip on your cell phone or a web tip . You don't have to give your name or testify in court and a reward is offered. |
