Informed and Entertained is how Morning Show Co-Anchor Rob Collins hopes to send viewers to work or school each day. "My goal is for folks to leave their house armed with the day's news and a smile on their face."
Rob is a native Texan as if you couldn't tell by his Lone Star State ring and the "Texasisms" he interjects when reporting stories. Collins grew up on a dairy farm and says the work ethic and people skills learned from his father, Tom, are a vital attribute working in television. "My Dad was always "busier than a moth in a mitten" and he could "talk the legs off a chair." Thankfully those characteristics rubbed off on me."
After graduating with honors from East Texas State University in 1995, Rob worked at KXII in Sherman, Texas, then landed in the Land of Lincoln at WIFR in Rockford before making a home in Central Illinois in 1996. Since 1996, Rob has performed just about every job in the newsroom from a little dusting to the current Co-Anchor chair he now occupies. Collins has captured several awards during his twelve years at WCIA, including the 1999 Silver Dome for best Sports Special and was recently named one of Central Illinois Business Magazine's 40 people under 40. Rob donates his time to help Special Olympics and other Non-profit Organizations plus he serves as an Elder at his church.
Rob is a "sportsaholic" and you will find him on the golf course, in the gym, or trying to teach his son how to bat left handed. Rob and his wife Beth live in Champaign with their son and dog Landry. You can contact Rob via email at rcollins@wcia.com
