A group of local budding writers gathered today to celebrate the Youth Literature Festival and Writing Contest.
At the Alice Campbell Alumni, over 400 children across the state entered last Spring. Today the top three winners won books and cash prizes. Organizers say it's a way to spark reading and writing in kids at an early age.
The contest was open to kindergartners to fifth graders. Several more events are upcoming that celebrate the Youth Literature Festival. -
