Reported by: Dave Benton / WCIA 3 Tuesday, Apr 28, 2009 @10:46pm CDT A twenty-year-old Paxton woman disappeared two years ago. Unanswered questions still haunt her family. All the leads have gone cold. Now Jamie Harper's community is pitching in to help find her. Family describe Harper as full of life. She loved to laugh and watch old movies. But she vanished from a party in Rantoul March 9th 2007. Her aunt Angie Mowrer says it started out as a normal day. Mowrer says after work Jamie went shopping, then she "...came home, gave her Mom some cash. She was saving for a car and then went to this party." A man she met a few weeks earlier took Harper to the 1300 block of Laurel Drive in Rantoul. Police say witnesses saw her at the party and she left early in the morning. But investigators say if she left with someone or alone isn't clear. Witnesses have told different stories. While tips poured in early on, they're now few and far between. The last tip came a few weeks ago. A Crimestoppers fund has been set up at the First National Bank in Paxton to help spark new leads. The reward is about $1500. Lt. Jeff Wooten with the Rantoul Police Department says, "If you think it might be old, or the same information, please don't hesitate to give it to us. It might have a thread of something new we can use." Harper's grandmother says her daughter is devastated, but is focused on raising Jamie's brother. Janet Harper says, "I pray everyday in my lifetime that I might know what happened to her or where she's at." If you have any information about Jamie Harper, call Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS or Crimestoppers in Ford County at 217/784-4173. If you'd like to make a donation to the reward fund, sent it to First National Bank, PO Box 95, Paxton, Illinois 60957. Police say one tip could make all the difference.
