Friday, Feb 20, 2009 @04:13pm CST The price tag is adding up for president Barack Obama's victory celebration in Chicago and his Vice Presidential announcement here in central Illinois.
The president's campaign still owes Springfield 65-thousand dollars for overtime and other costs. That's on top of nearly 2-million owed to Chicago. The Democratic National Committee can't say if he'll pay the bill or what's causing the delay. Springfield City Hall says they haven't had any contact with the campaign since sending the bill. Many in the city say they provided the service, and deserve a rapid response. "We're no different than the guy that built the stage.. the guy that provided the sound.. the guy that put the lighting up.. we're just an entity that has to be paid when services are provided," said Springfield Alderman Frank Edwards. |
